摔角历程：
在40多年的生涯中，Verne Gagne一直是明尼苏达州的一名传奇摔角选手和摔角推广者，而且他在80年代对摔角行业的扩张起到了关键的作用。2006年，4月1日，他像摔角行业的其他传奇一样，加入了WWE名人堂的行列。
出生于明尼苏达州罗宾斯戴尔的Gagne曾参与过其他运动项目。他曾是一名棒球运动员和橄榄球运动员，不过，他最擅长的还是摔角，而且获得最多冠军头衔的领域也是摔角。当时他去到了明尼苏达大学，并在那继续自己的橄榄球和摔角生涯。一年之后，他加入了海军，并参与了世界第二次大战。几年后，他又回到了大学，并完成了自己的学业。在业余摔角期间，他获得了4次Big Ten Wrestling冠军、2次NCAA Wrestling冠军，并在1949年赢得AAU Wrestling冠军头衔。1948年，他还代表美国参加了奥林匹克运动会。
在结束了在NFL的Green Bay Packers的生涯之后，他进入了职业摔角接。1950年，他在明尼苏达州完成了自己的首秀，并在50年代取得了多个区域的冠军。1960年，他进入了刚刚成立的AWA（American Wrestling Association）。1960年8月，他获得了自己的第一次AWA冠军头衔。当时，他战胜了第一届AWA冠军Pat O'Connor。

在AWA还没倒闭之前，那里孕育了很多摔角明星，他们包括了：Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Pat Patterson, The Legion of Doom, Shawn Michaels & Marty Jannetty, Curt Hennig, Scott Hall、"Mean" Gene Okerlund 、"Sensational" Sherri、 Jerry "The King" Lawler, Larry Zbyszko和Sgt. Slaughter等。Verne的儿子Greg也在AWA开创了自己成功的生涯。另外，Gagne也训练出了几个著名的摔角巨星，他们包括 Ric Flair, Ken Patera, Bob Backlund和Ricky Steamboat。
