摔角历程：
当回顾WWE的巨人选手时，我们很容易能从这些选手中挑出一些佼佼者，这些佼佼者就包括了Big John Studd。身高208CM，体重165KG的"Big John Studd" Minton如同一座大山一般震慑着对手，而他与Andre the Giant和Hulk Hogan在80年代中期的3强争霸被认为是当时那个时代最盛大的对决。
受教于WWE名人堂成员Killer Kowalski的Minton在1976年作为Kowalski的搭档第一次露面。当时带着面具的他们赢得了双打冠军头衔，并很快制造出了足够大的影响。后来，脱掉面具的他，还曾以Chuck O'Connor的名号在擂台上摔角。
在离开WWE之后，Minton去到了亚特兰大的中部地区，在那，他再次带着面具比赛。就是在这个时期，他与Ken Patera搭档在一起，并于1978年赢得了亚特兰大中部双打冠军头衔。但是在不久之后，因为败给了Blackjack Mulligan，所以他不得不脱掉自己的面具。就是在那之后，他开始以自己最闻名的称号Big John Studd在擂台上比赛。
在80年代早期，Studd在佛罗里达州的AWA和NWA摔角。之后，他又再次回到了WWE。当时，Freddie Blassie充当了他的经纪人，而Studd也在不久之后加入了Heenan Family，并与Andre the Giant开展了长期的斗争。他们的斗争成为了WWE历史上其中一个最著名的时刻。
在1984年12约，Studd在Patera和Heenan的陪伴下在一场搭档比赛中减掉了Andre的头发。几个月之后，在麦迪逊广场上演的WrestleMania中，Andre和Studd上演了一场1万5千美金背摔挑战赛。Andre背摔Studd并赢得奖金的时刻成为了WrestleMania其中一个最伟大的时刻。但在Andre把钱抛向观众之前，Heenan却把这笔奖金偷走了。在1985年，Studd与Heenan Family的成员King Kong Bundy组成了双打队伍，并于Andre和Hulk Hogan展开了争斗。
在之后的一年，在WrestleMania 2的皇家大战中，Studd再次上演了其中一个最为大的WrestleMania时刻。当时这场皇家大战在芝加哥举行，Studd当时把全场观众都惹毛了，因为他把出生于之家个的选手Chicago Bears great William "The Refrigerator" Perry淘汰了。之后，被淘汰的Perry恼羞成怒，把Studd拖出了绳圈，致使Studd被淘汰。
不久之后，Studd短暂地离开了WWE。在2年之后，他再次回归，并又一次挑起了与Andre的斗争。这次，因为Andre与令人讨厌的Heenan站在同一阵线，所以粉丝们倾向于站在Studd的一方。可能因为受到观众的热捧，他得意以27名出现在1989年的皇家大战中。当时，他在最后时刻淘汰了Ted DiBiase并赢得了最终的胜利。在WrestleMania5，Studd成为了Andre与Jake Roberts之战的特别裁判。1989年中期，Studd又再次离开了WWE，这次，他没有再回来了。
在之后的几年，Studd训练了一些摔角选手，在这些人中，最出名的就是Ron Reis。Ron Reis在WCW比赛时，为了向Studd致敬，他把自己的擂台名定为了"Big" Ron Studd。之后，Studd还曾到好莱坞发展。他曾参演过A-Team和Hunter这些美剧，并曾出演过Harley Davidson和the Marlboro Man等电影。不幸的是，在1995年3约20日，身患肝癌和霍奇金氏症的他去世了。
在2004年，在WrestleMania20的前一天，已经去世的Studd在他20年前创造WrestleMania历史时刻的地方被推荐进入WWE名人堂。值得一提的是，当时是由WWE现役巨人选手Big Show推荐Studd进入WWE名人堂的，当时Studd的儿子John Minton, Jr代起父亲接受了这份荣誉。
在他的生涯当中，Studd曾获得过世界双打冠军头衔，曾参加过WrestleMania，并曾赢得过皇家大战。名人堂的荣誉再次证明了Studd是摔角行业真正的巨人明星。
