Danny Basham和他的兄弟Doug Basham在2003年6月与SmackDown管理员Stephanie McMahon签约，一同成为 SmackDown中的一员。Danny Basham让人眼前一亮的业余运动背景让Stephanie McMahon毫不犹豫地签了他，在他20岁以前，Danny Basham打过橄榄球、篮球，在高中他还曾是田径选手，他在橄榄球运动中的表现尤为出色，他在其所在球队连续两年担任队长，赢得所有可以获得的荣誉，在他所在高中的历史上写下浓墨重彩的一笔。三度OVW“俄亥俄谷摔角”（Ohio Valley Wrestling）冠军的经历足以让Danny成为WWE一员，他还作为OVW历史上首位参加皇家大战的选手，参加了2003皇家大战大赛，Danny Basham后来由于攻击OVW训练员和前WWE双打冠军"Soulman" Rocky Johnson而曾被开除，此番又再度重返，看来Stephanie McMahon在对于如何更好地控制Basham兄弟的行动方面还有待加强。
